Beating the Heat

I know most of the country has been hot lately - but geez, it's just miserable down here.  We've been hitting the pool, splashpads and water activities alot.  But now that triple digits and no rain are the constant, we're also finding other ways to cool off.

Here's Carter at Mom and Dad's pool jumping off the waterfall.  The name of this jump is "Twin Peaks."  Notice, he has two feet on two seperate rocks.  Brian and the boys have named all the different rocks/sections of where they jump.  The boys LOVE jumping off the rocks, they'll race back to the top and make me a nervous wreck climbing up on them to beat the other.
Uncle Ian and Uncle Parker (my cousins) were in town in June and went swimming with the boys.
Watching the iPad after swimming.  You know, Cole at 2 1/2 can navigate the iPad better than some adults.  It's ridiculous.
One of our favorite cool spots is the Noah's Ark pool at a Methodist Church in town.  I like that there is plenty of shade for me to sit in and watch them play.  This part of the pool is only a foot-ish deep so I can rest my feet instead of chasing them around a pool.

Behind the Noahs' Ark pool is a regular pool and diving board.  Carter would much rather hang out by the diving board, but Cole hates to just sit and watch and they won't let me swim out and catch him.  So when I go by myself, Carter just gets a few jumps at a time.

Brian and I, along with Mom, took the boys to Copperfield Bowl - the same place I grew up bowling at.  They LOVED it.  I was afraid Cole would just run up and down the bowling alley and not play, but it was quite the opposite.  He wouldn't stop bowling.  So much so Mom went up and paid for another lane for him to bowl alone.  He just kept bowling.  They put the bumpers up for the kids and they had a blast.

The "Fro-Yo" craze has hit Houston and now the boys love going to get Frozen Yogurt as treats after dinner.  Not nightly, but not infrequently either :)  It's self serve, which is Carter's dream come true.  He picks out his flavor (always strawberry) and then puts whatever toppings he wants on it.  Usually M&Ms or Sour Gummi Worms.  Then they weigh it and you pay by the ounce.  It's a lot cheaper than ice cream and better for me, so that's how I justify the "not infrequent" visits ...
